Feelings Within (2011)

Kieran Reaney’s (R.I.P.) and Padraic Reaney’s 1st book of poems, short stories and wise sayings, was co-written by the identical twin brothers in 2011. This book is generally about their home parish of Caherlistrane, and their village of Mossfort, and of course the Reaney family.

It is interspersed with photographs – mostly in colour – to make it easier for the reader, but every photo ties in with a poem or short story. Many subjects are explored, stirring up all types of emotion, from the very serious to the humorous. Ups and downs really, taking “the rough with the smooth”.

Knockma Inkwells (2013)

Kieran’s (R.I.P.) and Padraic’s 2nd book of poems, short stories and wise sayings was co-written by the twins in 2013. This book goes further afield, to deal with subject matter in County Galway, the West of Ireland and the world really.

Our biggest and greatest influences and inspirations would be Knockma Hill in Caherlistrane, the Sawdoctors band from Tuam, God and spirituality. Obviously also our second cousins, famous singers and musicians, the Keanes from our home parish, and not forgetting our other relatives, the Cunninghams from the other side of our parish, Kilcoona, who are also widely known singers and musicians.

After Hours Take Off (2016)

Kieran’s (R.I.P.) and Padraic’s 3rd book – co-written by the twins – is actually their debut 3-Act Play. It is an adult play, with an international flavour, containing ten characters, and is a roller-coaster of emotion, and penned in 2016. It was later that year, on the 25th of November, that Kieran died suddenly and unexpectedly, at the age of 53 years.

We always endeavoured to contain therapy in our writing – to give hope to the reader really – and undoubtedly, he is helping me from the other side. We were delighted to “rub shoulders” with other writers from our parish who have written books – namely Fr. Pat O’Brien, Michael John Hughes, Anna McHugh, Mary J. Murphy and Tony Brady, from Ballintleva.

Drama Groups

Any Drama Groups, college groups or groups of people wishing to perform this play on stage – when things get back to normal – are very welcome to do so.

You can phone Padraic on 087-721-1033, or email padraicreaney25@gmail.com.

The twins wrote this play in easy-to-understand detail explaining what is happening from start to finish.

Therefore, it is suitable for very experienced play enthusiasts, or people with no experience of plays whatsoever.
